Wall Changer is a desktop wallpaper utility that automatically changes the background at configurable intervals. It combines a background daemon with a graphical configuration application, making it possible to manage wallpaper rotation without repeatedly changing desktop settings manually.
The program consists of two components. wchangerd handles wallpaper changes in the background, while wchangercfg provides the controls for managing image collections, downloading backgrounds and selecting the commands used to apply them.
Wall Changer can work with different window managers by calling the appropriate wallpaper-setting command. This approach gives users the flexibility to customise how images are applied, particularly when using lightweight desktop environments and standalone window managers.
Images can come from local collections or online wallpaper services. The application is suitable for users who want an automatically changing desktop background without depending on a particular desktop environment’s wallpaper management facilities.
