Hyprpaper is a lightweight wallpaper utility designed for Hyprland, a Wayland compositor. It provides a straightforward way to manage desktop backgrounds without the overhead of a full wallpaper management application.
The utility supports different wallpapers on individual monitors, with fill, tile, cover and contain modes. Fractional scaling is supported, making it suitable for displays with different resolutions and scaling settings.
Wallpapers can be changed dynamically through IPC without restarting the application. This makes Hyprpaper useful for scripts, keyboard shortcuts and other automated desktop workflows. The hyprctl command can also report the wallpaper currently assigned to each monitor.
Hyprpaper supports automatic wallpaper rotation from directories, with configurable intervals and random selection. Its configuration uses wallpaper blocks that specify the monitor, image or directory and display mode. A fallback wallpaper can be defined for monitors without an individual assignment.
