Walldo is a lightweight graphical wallpaper changer which focuses on browsing a local collection of images and quickly setting one as the desktop background.
The program deliberately avoids the large feature sets offered by many desktop customisation applications. There is no background daemon, automatic rotation, video playback, online wallpaper service or live wallpaper functionality. Walldo opens when needed, lets the user find an image and set it as the wallpaper.
Wallpaper directories are scanned recursively, which makes the application useful for collections arranged into multiple folders and subdirectories. A fuzzy search facility can quickly narrow a large collection without requiring exact file names.
Walldo uses a native graphical interface rather than embedding a web browser engine. The resulting application is relatively small and does not need to keep a service running continuously in the background.
Linux support covers a broad collection of desktop environments. GNOME, KDE Plasma, Xfce, Cinnamon, LXDE, LXQt, MATE and Deepin can be handled directly without additional wallpaper utilities. Standalone X11 window managers use feh as a fallback, while Wayland compositors can use swaybg.
JPEG and PNG images are supported. The emphasis is on conventional static desktop wallpaper rather than animated or video backgrounds.
This is free and open source software.
