Walt is a wallpaper manager designed for the Hyprland Wayland compositor. It combines a keyboard-oriented terminal interface with a native graphical application, offering different ways to browse, preview and apply desktop backgrounds.
The terminal interface is suited to users who spend most of their time in a terminal emulator. The graphical interface provides a larger image preview and conventional controls for managing wallpaper collections. Both interfaces use the same underlying wallpaper management functionality.
Walt works with hyprpaper to apply desktop backgrounds. Its workflow extends beyond selecting an individual image, with controls for random wallpaper selection, multiple monitors and automatic rotation.
The application also supports a background rotation service, allowing wallpapers to change without keeping either interface open. Settings and wallpaper collections are retained between sessions, making it a useful companion for customised Hyprland desktops.
