npdfr – command-line PDF reader

npdfr is an ncurses-based PDF reader designed for users who regularly search through large documents. It prioritises fast search responses and straightforward keyboard navigation rather than the extensive graphical controls found in conventional PDF viewers.

The application was created to address the delays sometimes encountered when searching PDF documents. It uses the MuPDF library for document processing and provides commands inspired by the less pager, making its navigation familiar to terminal users.

npdfr can open several PDF files in a single session and switch between them using keyboard shortcuts. It also provides document outlines, page navigation and forward or backward searching, making it useful for reference manuals and technical documentation.

This is free and open source software.
