Kiview is a file previewer designed for the KDE Plasma desktop. It allows users to examine different file types without opening their associated applications, offering a convenient way to inspect files while browsing directories.
The application supports numerous document formats, including PDF, Microsoft Office and OpenDocument files. It can also preview images, multimedia content, plain text and compressed archives, reducing the need to launch separate applications for simple file inspection.
Kiview is particularly useful alongside the Dolphin file manager. It can be activated using a custom keyboard shortcut or integrated into Dolphin through a service menu. This provides quick access to previews while maintaining a lightweight file browsing workflow.
