CudaText

CudaText – cross-platform text editor

Summary

CudaText is both fast and lightweight. It’s got bags of features built into its core, and the vast array of Python plugins adds further to the mix.

Without any plugins loaded, the program starts in around 0.2 seconds on our systems. Having lots of plugins preinstalled only increases this fast startup slightly. Performance is very good both with large files and files with long lines. In our tests it beats the vast majority of editors in many performance tests.

Linux is definitely not short of high quality code editors. But CudaText definitely warrants consideration in this very crowded market.
