Webkit Word is a rich-text editor built with GTK and WebKit. Unlike a plain-text editor, it concentrates on visually formatted documents and exposes controls for changing the appearance and structure of text directly.
Its editing model covers common word-processing tasks without attempting to reproduce the full breadth of a traditional office suite. Text can be styled and aligned, while documents can incorporate lists, tables, images and hyperlinks.
Webkit Word can therefore serve as a middle ground between a basic text editor and a large desktop word processor, particularly when the intended output is HTML-oriented or a visually formatted document.
