far2l is a Linux port of FAR Manager, the long-established orthodox file manager originally developed for Windows. It brings the familiar two-panel interface and extensive keyboard controls to Linux, together with a built-in editor, viewer and plugin architecture.
The application provides both terminal and graphical modes. This makes it suitable for use on servers, in terminal emulators and on graphical desktops. The interface is designed around keyboard operation, although mouse support is available in appropriate environments.
far2l can work with local files, archives and remote filesystems. Its plugin system extends the application well beyond basic file management, including remote connections, text manipulation, archive browsing and scripting facilities.
The different interface backends are particularly useful, although keyboard and clipboard support vary according to the terminal emulator and desktop session in use.
