GenesiOS is a rolling-release Linux distribution based on CachyOS, which itself derives from Arch Linux. It is designed for developers and users running AI models locally, combining a performance-optimised system with tools for software development and everyday desktop use.
The distribution offers two customised desktop experiences: Hyprland with the Caelestia shell and KDE Plasma with a glass-themed interface. Several other desktop environments can be selected during installation, including GNOME, Xfce and Cinnamon.
A central component is AI Mode, which detects local inference workloads and automatically adjusts system settings to improve performance. The original settings are restored when the workload finishes.

What's a Linux distribution ("distro")? |
| A distro provides the user with a desktop environment, preloaded applications, and ways to update and maintain the system. Each distro makes different choices, deciding which open source projects to install and provides custom written programs. They can have different philosophies. Some distros are intended for desktop computers, some for servers without a graphical interface, and others for special uses. Because Linux is an open source operating system, combinations of software vary between Linux distros. |
