cnping is a compact graphical network utility for monitoring response times to a remote host. It provides a continuously updating display, allowing users to observe connectivity and latency without interpreting terminal output.
The application supports conventional IPv4 ping testing and HTTP-based requests. This makes it useful for checking ordinary network reachability as well as the responsiveness of web services.
cnping uses a lightweight graphical interface built with rawdraw. Its configurable sampling period and graph settings make it suitable for investigating latency variations over both short and extended monitoring sessions.
This is free and open source software.
Key Features
- Graphical display of live network response times.
- IPv4 ICMP ping measurements.
- HTTP request testing for web destinations.
- Continuously update the latency graph during monitoring.
- Configure the interval between successive measurements.
- Adjust the amount of additional data sent with ping requests.
- Automatic graph scaling for changing response times.
- Optional fixed vertical-axis scaling.
- Specify a custom window title.
- Lightweight graphical interface suitable for continuous monitoring.
