Sigal is a Python-based static gallery generator that transforms directories of photographs and videos into browsable HTML galleries. It handles image processing and page generation, producing collections that can be published on a conventional web server.
The software is intended for users who prefer generating photo galleries from files rather than maintaining a database-backed gallery application. Once a gallery has been generated, the resulting website consists of static files and does not require a continuously running application server.
Sigal combines a command-line workflow with customisable templates and themes. It is particularly useful for publishing personal photographic archives, travel collections and other galleries where simplicity and portability are more important than interactive content management.
This is free and open source software.
