Joplin is a note-taking and task-management application designed to keep information organised and accessible across devices. Notes are arranged into notebooks and can contain formatted text, images, file attachments and other supporting material.
The application uses Markdown for storing note content, with editing and preview facilities that make it practical for everyday use. Its notebooks, tags and search tools are useful for managing reference collections, research projects and the background information associated with writing a novel.
Joplin takes an offline-first approach, keeping local copies of notes so that work can continue without an internet connection. Synchronisation is optional and supports several services, including self-hosted solutions. End-to-end encryption provides additional protection when notes are synchronised between devices.
