diskus – compute disk usage

diskus is a very simple program that computes the total size of the current directory.

It is a parallelized version of du -sh.

This is free and open source software.

Key Features

  • Set the number of threads. By default the program uses 3 x number of cores in the machine.
  • Choose the output format for file sizes (decimal or binary).
  • Option not to hide filesystem error.s
  • Option to compute apparent size instead of disk usage.
  • Changes its output format when the output is piped to a file or to another program. It will simply print the number of bytes.
  • Custom implementation of a parallel directory walker using rayon.
  • Cross-platform support – runs under Linux, macOS and Windows.
