Subtitld is software to create, edit and transcribe subtitles.
It supports SRT, SSA, TTML, SBV, DFXP, VTT, XML, SCC and SAMI file formats.
Subtitld uses 2 main tools to work. The ffmpeg is used for internal processes and libmpv for video playback. It also uses PySide6 for the GUI.
This is free and open source software.
Key Features
- Retiming – adjust the start, duration, and end of a subtitle direct in the timeline.
- Project status/information.
- Slicing – merge to the last/next subtitle, or slice in the middle at the text cursor position.
- Add and remove – add a subtitle with an editable duration. Remove the selected subtitle.
- Start/end to cursor – start the start/end of the subtitle to the current timeline cursor.
- Timeline zoom – up to 20 levels of zoom are available.

- Playback – play from the start of the last/current subtitle, stop, play at current timeline cursor position, and from the start of the next subtitle.
