ScreenStudio is open source software that lets you record your desktop in full HD video files. Overlay some text or even your webcam. It will also let you stream your desktop to services like UStream, Hitbox or Twitch.tv.
The software is written in Java.
ScreenStudio is compatible with Ubuntu/Linux, OS X and Windows 10.
Features include:
- Relies heavily on FFmpeg.
- Wide variety of output formats are supported:
- FLV, TS, MP4, MOV are to record into a local file.
- Twitch, YoutTube, Ustream are for streaming to their respective RTMP server.
- HTTP Live Streaming.
- Supported formats:
- Webcams (V4L2).
- Desktop (screen capture).
- Images ((PNG, JPG, BMP, GIF, animated GIFs).
- Text (Raw text or basic HTML).
- Uses Pulseaudio for audio recordings. When two audio input are selected (Mic+Internal), ScreenStudio will add a virtual audio input that will mix both Mic and Internal audio input.
- Cross-platform support.
