CoBang is a desktop application for scanning and generating QR codes and barcodes. It is designed to integrate with the Linux desktop rather than provide a basic camera window or a browser-based scanning service.
The application uses GTK for its interface, GStreamer for capturing camera images and ZBar for decoding barcode data. It was developed with Wayland in mind, although it also works in X11 desktop sessions.
CoBang can recognise codes from a live camera feed, images stored on disk and images obtained from remote locations. It also provides QR code generation facilities, making it useful for sharing text and wireless network information between computers and mobile devices.
This is free and open source software.
