qr-rs – generate QR codes from the command line

qr-rs is a command-line utility for generating QR codes from text and website addresses. It provides a straightforward interface for creating QR symbols without opening a graphical application.

The program accepts text directly as a command argument or through standard input. This makes it useful in shell pipelines and scripts that need to convert generated information into a scannable code.

qr-rs also provides several controls over the appearance of its output. Users can configure colours, borders and error correction levels, and select between raster and vector image formats.

This is free and open source software.

Key Features

  • Generate QR codes from text supplied as command-line arguments.
  • Encode website addresses and other textual information.
  • Read text from standard input for use with shell pipelines.
  • Print QR codes directly in the terminal when no output file is specified.
  • Export generated QR codes as PNG, JPEG or SVG images.
