vd is a TUI password manager and OTP authenticator for Unix systems. It provides an interactive interface for managing credentials while also exposing commands that make common operations available from the command line.
The software relies on GPG for encryption rather than implementing its own cryptographic routines. Credentials are encrypted on disk using a selected GPG key and stored under the user’s local data directory. vd can create a GPG key during registration or use an existing key.
Besides ordinary password storage, vd includes support for time-based one-time passwords. OTP secrets can be added directly or imported from a Google Authenticator export QR image. This lets users retrieve authentication codes from their computer without reaching for a separate mobile device.
This is free and open source software.
