Calculator is a graphical calculator designed for the COSMIC desktop environment. It offers a straightforward interface for carrying out everyday calculations without surrounding the basic functionality with unnecessary complexity.
The application fits naturally with the look and feel of COSMIC. It is built using the COSMIC application toolkit and is intended to behave like a native desktop utility rather than a general-purpose mathematical environment. This makes it particularly suitable when you simply want quick access to a calculator alongside your other desktop applications.
One of Calculator’s more useful features is its calculation history. Previous operations remain available so that you can inspect earlier results instead of having to repeat the same calculation. A previous calculation can also be brought back into the main display when you want to reuse or modify it.
The interface keeps the numbers, operators and result prominent. This is not intended to compete with specialist computer algebra systems, programmable calculators or large scientific mathematics packages. Its focus is the much more common requirement of having a convenient graphical calculator immediately available on the desktop.
Calculator is therefore a good option for COSMIC users who want a small native application for routine arithmetic.
This is free and open source software.
