GNOME Calculator is the default calculator application for the GNOME desktop. Although its interface is straightforward enough for everyday arithmetic, it also offers several specialised modes for more demanding calculations.
Advanced mode provides scientific functions including trigonometry, logarithms, factorials, complex numbers and prime factorisation. Financial mode includes calculations for interest rates, present and future values, depreciation and other common financial problems.
The programming mode supports binary, octal, decimal and hexadecimal calculations, together with bitwise operations and two’s complement arithmetic. A separate conversion mode handles physical units, currencies and number bases.
Calculator uses conventional mathematical notation wherever possible. It also offers a keyboard-oriented mode for entering expressions directly, making it useful for people who prefer typing calculations rather than clicking buttons.
This is free and open source software.
