Plattenalbum – client for the Music Player Daemon

Summary

We’re going to sit on the fence. Plattenalbum offers a pleasant and intuitive frontend to MPD. It displays large covers, there’s support for MPRIS, we can filter by genre, and much more. And because it’s a front-end to MPD, important features like gapless playback are automatically supported.

Providing your music collection has perfectly groomed music tags, the program functions admirably. It still doesn’t have the polish of our favorite MPD frontends. And for anyone who doesn’t have a model collection from a tag perspective, we can’t recommend Plattenalbum given the lack of a directory browser.

Most MPD frontends offer that functionality, and without it, the program may be largely unusable.
