Journal Viewer is a graphical desktop application for exploring events recorded by the systemd journal. It provides a visual alternative to querying messages directly from the terminal.
The application’s interface includes a summary graph showing recent activity. This makes it possible to identify periods with unusually high numbers of entries and then investigate the associated messages.
A quick search facility supports case-insensitive text matching. More advanced filters allow users to narrow the results by priority, date range, systemd service unit, transport and system boot.
Individual entries can be expanded to display additional information. Severity indicators help distinguish errors and warnings from routine messages, while infinite scrolling simplifies navigation through extensive event histories.
The application is built using Rust, Tauri and Vue, and offers both light and dark interface themes.
