issue-status is a status page application that turns information maintained in an issue tracker into a public service-health dashboard. It is intended for communicating operational conditions, maintenance and incident updates, rather than automatically probing websites or servers.
Teams can maintain status information using familiar issue-management workflows. Labels identify the purpose of each issue and the condition of the affected service, while issue content provides the explanation shown to visitors.
The generated frontend can be published through a static web host. A provider system separates the page interface from its data source, allowing the same presentation to work with different backends.
This is free and open source software.
Key Features
- Use GitHub Issues or GitLab Issues as the source of service and incident information.
- Connect the GitLab provider to GitLab.com or a specified alternative GitLab host.
- Represent individual services as components with operational, degraded performance, partial outage or major outage states.
- Organise components into parent and child relationships, such as a delivery network divided into geographical regions.
- Distinguish active incidents from scheduled maintenance through issue labels.
- Present historical incidents and postmortem information alongside current service conditions.
- Support Markdown for formatting incident descriptions and explanations.
- Include pre-built incident templates that can be adapted to a team’s reporting conventions.
- Configure the page name, description and data provider through a TypeScript configuration file.
- Provide a static-data provider for explicitly defined components and incidents, particularly useful during testing.
- Cache provider responses in the browser to reduce repeated requests and respect API limits.
- Generate frontend assets suitable for static hosting without a dedicated status-page application server.
