gnome-logs is a graphical viewer for the systemd journal.
The software sorts the journal into categories:
- Important.
- All.
- Applications.
- System.
- Security.
- Hardware.
By default, standard users are shown a limited set of logs, such as application logs and their own session logs. If you’re a standard user and do not see any logs, it’s possible that your system administrator has disabled your ability to view logs. Administrator users will normally be able to view more sensitive logs, such as kernel logs and the logs of other users. It’s possible for administrators to have different levels of access to logs, so you may not be able to view all logs.
Logs depends on GTK+ 3.22.0 or higher, and systemd (specifically, the libsystemd‑journal library). At runtime, it depends on gsettings‑desktop‑schemas.
The software is written in the C programming language.
Features include:
- Search your logs by typing a search term.
- View detailed information about each event by clicking on that event.
- Keyboard shortcuts.
- Internationalization support including translations for Basque, Belarusian, Catalan, Chinese, Chinese (Taiwan), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Esperanto, Finnish, French, Friulian, Galician, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Kazakh, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malayalam, Nepali, Norwegian bokmål, Occitan, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Portuguese (Brazilian), Romanian, Russian, Scottish Gaelic, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.
