Xlogmaster is a graphical utility for monitoring system messages, files, devices and the output of external commands. It uses GTK and brings several traditional Unix monitoring techniques into a single interface.
The application was designed to make it easier to observe activity from multiple sources without repeatedly switching between terminal windows. It can display information as it changes and apply rules that help identify important events.
Xlogmaster distinguishes between filters that affect how information appears and filters that perform actions when particular events occur. This makes it useful not only for inspecting messages but also for responding automatically to conditions identified in monitored output.
Xlogmaster is an older application built around GTK 1.2. Its upstream documentation is dated, so compatibility with modern Linux desktops should not be assumed.
