Logfile Viewer

KDE Journald Browser – graphical systemd journal viewer

KDE Journald Browser is a graphical application for examining systemd journal logs. It provides an accessible alternative to journalctl for investigating system events, application failures and service activity.

The application is part of the KJournald project, which provides a Qt-based library for accessing journal databases. Its interface uses Qt Quick and Kirigami to present log messages in a structured, searchable view.

Systemd journals contain messages generated by the kernel, background services and applications. These records are valuable when diagnosing failed services, unexpected shutdowns, hardware problems and other system issues.

KDE Journald Browser can examine journals from the local machine as well as saved databases collected from other Linux systems. This also makes it useful for investigating problems after an affected system has been shut down or is no longer accessible.

This is free and open source software.

  • Browse local, collected and offline systemd journal databases.
