Epoptes is a computer laboratory management and monitoring application designed for Linux-based teaching environments. It allows teachers and administrators to supervise student computers, demonstrate activities and perform common management tasks from a central graphical interface.
The application uses a client-server architecture, with a controlling workstation communicating with computers across the classroom network. It is particularly suited to educational laboratories containing a mixture of conventional desktop computers, thin clients and systems using LTSP.
Epoptes provides practical controls for coordinating lessons, assisting individual learners and administering computers. Its functionality is intended to reduce the need for teachers to move between machines while managing a class.
