CatRadio is a graphical control application for amateur radio receivers and transceivers.
It gathers commonly used radio controls into a desktop interface, reducing the need to navigate hardware menus or repeatedly reach for the radio’s front panel. The program uses Hamlib to communicate with supported equipment, giving it access to a large range of radios while keeping the user interface independent of individual manufacturers’ CAT protocols. It can work with equipment attached directly to the computer as well as radios exposed through Hamlib’s network facilities.
This is free and open source software.
Key Features
- Interactive VFO controls for changing frequency directly from the graphical interface.
- Supports primary and secondary VFO operation, including facilities for split operation where the radio provides the required capabilities.
- Control AF gain, RF gain, squelch and other commonly adjusted receiver and transmitter levels.
- Provides RIT and XIT clarifier controls together with visual indication when the radio is transmitting.
- Includes controls aimed at CW operation, including adjustment of CW keyer speed.
- Provides FM facilities including repeater shift, offset, CTCSS tone, DCS code and squelch controls.
- Displays radio metering information including SWR, with facilities such as peak-hold and high-SWR indication.
- Supports additional meter readings exposed by compatible equipment, including compression and voltage information.
- Connect directly to radios through their communications interface or operate through Hamlib NET rigctld over a network.
- Provides configurable serial communication settings and CI-V addressing for compatible Icom equipment.
- Can automatically connect to configured equipment and optionally power on supported radios.
- Includes radio information, configurable polling behaviour, debugging facilities and persistent window settings.
- Offers light and dark interface themes.
