PurrCrypt is a command-line encryption tool with an intentionally playful presentation. It encrypts files using public-key cryptography and then represents the resulting data as patterned cat or dog sounds such as meows, purrs and barks.
The animal-sound layer is an encoding applied around the encrypted data rather than a substitute for cryptography. Users create their own key pair, exchange public keys with recipients and keep the private key protected. Anyone who recognises PurrCrypt’s format can identify the output, so the themed representation should not be treated as anonymity.
