Password Manager is a desktop application for storing credentials in encrypted local files.
It uses AES-256-CBC encryption through OpenSSL and deliberately avoids providing its own cloud service. Users who want synchronisation can keep the encrypted files in a service or tool such as Syncthing.
The application provides both a Qt graphical interface and an interactive command-line interface. It also includes TOTP generation for accounts protected with time-based two-factor authentication.
This is free and open source software.
Key Features
- Stores password data in ordinary files protected with AES-256-CBC encryption through OpenSSL.
- Qt Widgets desktop interface runs natively on Linux under Wayland and X11.
- Hierarchical organisation allows credentials and fields to be arranged in a tree structure.
- Search and filtering make it easy to locate entries in larger password stores.
- Drag and drop can be used to reorganise records within the password database.
- Undo and redo support covers changes made while editing password data.
- Generates TOTP authentication codes from otpauth credentials.
- Interactive command-line interface provides access to password files without launching the graphical interface.
- Keeps synchronisation separate from the application, allowing encrypted files to be replicated with tools such as Syncthing.
