Password Safe – password database utility

Password Safe is a password database utility.

Like many other such products, commercial and otherwise, it stores your passwords in an encrypted file, allowing you to remember only one password (the “safe combination”), instead of all the username/password combinations that you use.

The software lets you manage your old password and to generate, store, organize, retrieve and use complex new passwords using password policies that you control.

Password Safe is free and open source software.

Key Features

  • Simplicity: Password Safe is designed to do one thing, and to do it well. Start the application, enter your “combination”, double-click on the right entry – presto – the password is now on your clipboard, ready for pasting.
  • Simple interface.
  • Organize passwords using your own customizable references such as by user ID, category website, or location.
  • Store all passwords in an encrypted master password list (an encrypted password database), or use multiple databases.
  • Internationalization support – translations are available for many languages.
