Operaton is a business process automation platform built around a BPMN execution engine. It originated as a community-driven fork of Camunda 7 Community Edition, providing a continuation path for organisations using that platform.
The software combines process execution with facilities for monitoring workflows, administering users and managing tasks performed by people. Processes can be incorporated into existing applications or accessed through remote interfaces.
Compatibility with Camunda 7 is an important part of Operaton’s design. The project aims to preserve existing process definitions, decision models and database structures while allowing users to move to a community-maintained platform.
Operaton also provides integration with application frameworks and databases, making it suitable for business systems that require persistent, long-running workflows.
