ASGI WebDAV is an asynchronous WebDAV server implementation built around the ASGI standard. It provides access to files and other storage through the WebDAV protocol while using Python’s asynchronous I/O capabilities.
The software supports multiple storage providers. Its FileSystemProvider exposes files from a local filesystem, MemoryProvider provides an in-memory backend, and WebHDFSProvider adds access to storage exposed through WebHDFS. Multiple accounts can be configured, with permission controls governing which resources individual users can access.
Authentication options include HTTP Basic and Digest authentication. Passwords can be stored directly or handled using hashing, while LDAP authentication is also available in experimental form. Anonymous access can be enabled where required, and users can optionally be assigned individual home directories.
ASGI WebDAV also provides a browser-based directory view, allowing files and directories to be explored without using a dedicated WebDAV client. Responses can use Gzip or Zstandard compression, and the project reports compatibility with clients including macOS Finder and Windows Explorer.
This is free and open source software.
