Nginx WebDAV is an HTTP module that adds selected WebDAV file-management operations to the Nginx web server. It is designed primarily for automated file manipulation, allowing remote clients to create, upload, move, copy and delete resources.
Unlike a complete WebDAV server, ngx_http_dav_module implements a limited subset of the protocol. It is therefore most suitable for controlled workflows where clients use the supported methods, rather than general-purpose WebDAV access from applications requiring resource-property discovery or locking.

- Files uploaded through PUT are initially written to temporary storage before being moved to their destination.
- Nginx location and access-control directives can limit where WebDAV operations are accepted and which clients may use them.
- Integrates with Nginx’s HTTP and TLS capabilities for protected file transfer and server-side automation.
- Does not implement methods such as PROPFIND, PROPPATCH, LOCK and UNLOCK, which limits compatibility with some WebDAV clients.
