Encrypted Files

Vaults – create and manage encrypted folders

Vaults is a graphical application that lets you create encrypted folders for storing confidential documents and other sensitive files. It provides a straightforward alternative to working directly with command-line encryption utilities.

The application uses gocryptfs and CryFS as encryption backends. These tools provide encrypted filesystems that can be mounted when access is required and locked again when finished. Vaults integrates their functionality into a GNOME-oriented desktop interface, allowing users to manage protected folders without having to remember command-line arguments. The actual encryption is performed by the selected backend rather than by a separate encryption implementation within Vaults.

This is free and open source software.
