rsimg is a terminal image viewer. It displays pictures using Unicode characters and truecolour output, allowing users to preview images without launching a graphical application.
The program draws inspiration from catimg, another utility that converts image data into terminal-compatible characters. Instead of depending on a dedicated graphics protocol, rsimg produces coloured character output that can be displayed by a suitably capable terminal emulator.
rsimg supports JPEG and PNG images, including RGB and RGBA colour spaces. Images are resized to fit the available terminal window, helping avoid output that extends beyond the visible display area.
The application uses crossterm for terminal interaction and zune for image decoding. Its straightforward operation is suitable for users who want a simple way to examine image files while working at the command line.
