PixlPunkt is a modern cross-platform pixel art editor that brings together painting tools, layered editing, animation workflows, tile work, and plugin extensibility in a single application.
It supports both canvas and tile animation, includes non-destructive effects and palette management, and works with a wide range of import and export formats. Linux x64 builds are available as DEB, RPM, and tarball packages.
This is free and open source software.

- Supports canvas animation with keyframes, onion skinning, camera transforms, and audio reference tracks, alongside tile animation with reels and sprite sheet export.
- Features palette presets, an HSL color picker, gradient generation, palette import and export, and color extraction from images.
- Extends through a Plugin SDK for custom brushes, shapes, effects, tools, and import or export handlers.
- Works with a native .pxp format and can import or export formats including PNG, GIF, MP4, AVI, BMP, JPEG, TIFF, Aseprite, PyxelEdit, ICO, CUR, and Tiled files.
- Cross-platform support – runs under Linux, macOS, and Windows.
