Asteria is a graphical astrology application. It uses the Swiss Ephemeris directly for its calculations and provides an interactive environment for creating and analysing astrological charts.
The application handles natal, synastry, composite and Davison charts together with planetary returns, secondary progressions, transits and eclipses. Charts and interface elements can be extensively customised, and multiple charts can be opened in separate windows for comparison.
Asteria also includes Golden Dawn Tarot correspondences. AI-generated interpretations are available through local or external providers, but these are optional and are not required for its chart calculation and analysis facilities.
This is free and open source software.
Key Features
- Calculate natal charts with planetary positions, houses, aspects and element and modality distributions.
- Create synastry, composite and Davison relationship charts with configurable aspect, planet and orb filters.
- Calculate solar, lunar and other planetary returns, secondary progressions and transits covering periods of up to 370 days.
- Find solar and lunar eclipses and include additional bodies such as Lilith, Ceres, Pallas, Juno, Vesta, Vertex, East Point and Part of Spirit.
- Customise chart dimensions, wheel thickness, planet and glyph sizes, interface fonts and aspect-line appearance.
- Display Tarot correspondences for planets, zodiac signs, decans and other chart elements.
- Export charts as PNG, SVG or PDF and export chart data as text.
- Open multiple chart windows, move charts between them with drag-and-drop and select locations through an OpenStreetMap interface.
- Optionally generate interpretations using supported cloud services or a locally hosted Ollama model.

Are there options to use different types of Zodiacs, such as Lahiri
No, Asteria doesn’t appear to support different zodiac/ayanamsa modes such as Lahiri. It looks like it uses the tropical zodiac only.
Asteria uses Swiss Ephemeris, which can support Lahiri, but Asteria’s current release doesn’t enable that support.
