WP2Static – WordPress plugin for static site generation and deployment

WP2Static is a WordPress static site generator for security, performance and cost benefits.

It creates what is known as a static website – a snapshot of the WordPress page that looks the same to the regular visitor but with its more complex aspects removed behind the scenes. The generated snapshot simply features CSS, HTML, and images, which are typically seen when using a browser to inspect the source code.

WP2Static is free and open source software.

Features include:

  • Post-processing – makes a copy of each crawled file, modifying the contents as needed in preparation for deployment.
  • Crawling – requests each detected URL and saves it in a static site friendly format. For each detected URL in the crawl queue, the program:
    • requests the URL and saves the contents to a file.
    • adds successfully saved URLs to the crawl cache.
  • URL detection – detects all the WordPress URLs.
