Open Quartz is a free ego shooter that can function as a remake of the Quake game content. It is a replacement for the Quake game data released under a freely distributable licence.
Have you ever wondered why there are so many free Quake engines but not a free Quake? Well, OpenQuartz tries to fill this gap.
Open Quartz is a project to supply GPL artwork to create a fully GPL game based around the GPL Quake sourcecode. The pak0 module contains content (maps, models, graphics and sounds) and Quake-C code which controls the behavior and rules of the game. There is also a playable version available that has bot support. Anyone who ever wanted to create his own First-Person-Shooter can use Open Quartz as a base.
Features include:
- Single player games.
- Deathmatch against bots or real people.
- Monsters in Death gametype.
- Handles all deathmatch maps.
