FileRise – self-hosted web file manager and storage hub

FileRise is a self-hosted web file manager and storage hub for Linux servers.

It provides a browser interface for working with files while keeping storage and access control on infrastructure you manage. The open-source Core can run in Docker or on a standard Linux PHP web server and does not require an external database.

FileRise combines routine file management with granular permissions, resumable uploads, sharing, WebDAV, previews, tagging, search and optional encryption at rest. Multiple local roots and WebDAV sources can also be presented through the same interface.

This is free and open source software.

Key Features

  • Granular per-folder access controls covering viewing, uploading, creating, editing, renaming, moving, copying, deleting, extracting and sharing.
  • Chunked and resumable drag-and-drop uploads with pause, resume and progress tracking.
  • File and folder sharing with passwords, expiry controls and upload-only file requests.
  • ACL-aware WebDAV access using the same permissions as the browser interface.
  • Optional authenticated folder-level encryption at rest.
  • Built-in previews for images, video, audio and PDF files together with a CodeMirror text editor.
  • Tags, fuzzy search and a recoverable trash system with configurable retention.
  • Dual-pane file management with keyboard shortcuts for common operations.
  • Multiple local storage roots and WebDAV sources.
  • Local user accounts, TOTP two-factor authentication and OIDC single sign-on.
  • Optional ClamAV scanning and ONLYOFFICE document editing.
  • OpenAPI interface with interactive API documentation.
