Eslapion is a lightweight Linux distribution derived from SliTaz. The project was created by Stanislas Leduc, also known as Shann, and continues the work he previously maintained as the SliTaz Current branch.
The distribution retains SliTaz’s focus on a small footprint and modest hardware requirements. Eslapion has its own infrastructure and package repositories together with updated kernels, rather than relying on the SliTaz project’s repositories.
Eslapion is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit x86 systems. Software is managed with TazPkg, the package manager developed for SliTaz, while the system uses a lightweight Openbox desktop and BusyBox-based init environment.

What's a Linux distribution ("distro")? |
| A distro provides the user with a desktop environment, preloaded applications, and ways to update and maintain the system. Each distro makes different choices, deciding which open source projects to install and provides custom written programs. They can have different philosophies. Some distros are intended for desktop computers, some for servers without a graphical interface, and others for special uses. Because Linux is an open source operating system, combinations of software vary between Linux distros. |
