Static Site Generator

CoWeM – static site generator for course websites

CoWeM is a static site generator for creating course websites from Markdown documents.

It is built around Gradle plug-ins and support libraries, letting educators produce structured teaching material for the web from a single source. The software supports HTML publishing for course content and can also prepare material for use inside learning management systems.

This is free and open source software.

Key Features

  • Uses conditional text so one Markdown source can produce both detailed lecture notes and slimmer slide content.
  • Supports automatic pretty-printing of program source code.
  • Renders mathematical notation from LaTeX expressions.
  • Can deploy output as a standard website or as a SCORM package for learning management systems such as Blackboard.
  • Builds on Gradle plug-ins and support libraries that can bootstrap onto systems with a working Java runtime.
