atftp is a client and server implementation of the Trivial File Transfer Protocol. It is designed for environments where TFTP is used for straightforward network file delivery, particularly network booting and infrastructure provisioning.
The project implements the core TFTP protocol together with several option extensions. Its server is multithreaded and was designed to handle large numbers of machines requesting boot files, rather than merely serving occasional individual transfers.
atftp is particularly notable for its multicast capabilities. It supports both the multicast extension defined for TFTP and the separate MTFTP mechanism associated with PXE environments.
