NcFTP is a console-based FTP client designed as a more capable replacement for the traditional command-line ftp program. It combines an interactive FTP shell with conveniences intended to make routine transfers quicker and less error-prone.
The client places considerable emphasis on usability. It remembers frequently used sites, provides command-line editing and filename completion, keeps directory information cached, and displays progress information during transfers. Interrupted downloads can be resumed automatically.
NcFTP is supplied with additional programs for transfers that do not require an interactive session. These include ncftpget for downloading files, ncftpput for uploads, and ncftpbatch for running queued jobs in the background. This makes the package useful both interactively and from shell scripts.
