Violin

Violin – minimalistic desktop music player

Last Updated on April 9, 2022

Summary

In many ways, a minimalist music player makes a lot of sense with a large potential market. Do you want to spend precious time learning the functionality of a music player, or actually maximize your time listening to your locally stored music you love?

Having no preference options cuts both ways. While it renders the learning curve almost non-existent, there’s always something I want to tweak with any application. For example, I’m not enamored with the software’s styling. I’d like to at least change the font and size.

Will Violin become my main music player? Not by a long chalk. The absence of gapless playback removes any consideration. But it’s a project I’ll keep monitoring. Remember the program is in its infancy.

If you want a superb GUI based music player, my recommendation remains Tauon Music Player. Or if you prefer console based software, grab musikcube. Both are open source at their very finest.
