Qosmic is a graphical editor for creating and manipulating FLAM3 fractal flames. It provides a visual alternative to working directly with FLAM3 parameter files and command-line tools.
The interface revolves around a triangle editor, dockable controls and multiple viewers. Transformations can be selected and manipulated directly, while associated widgets expose the properties of the current genome and individual triangles.
Its workflow is heavily mouse-driven, making it practical to experiment with transformations, palettes, mutations and image quality while receiving continuous visual feedback.
This is free and open source software.
Key Features
- Edits and renders fractal flames using the FLAM3 libraries.
- Provides a triangle editor for selecting and manipulating individual xform elements.
- Offers preview and main viewers with independently adjustable image quality.
- Updates the preview automatically as flame settings are changed.
- Supports selection and simultaneous transformation of multiple triangles.
- Provides per-genome undo and redo history.
- Includes a mutations window for creating and comparing variations of existing genomes.
- Offers a genome selector for managing multiple flames within the current working set.
- Includes a directory browser with previews for FLAM3 files and associated images.
- Supports drag and drop between the mutation view, genome selector and image viewers.
- Loads GIMP gradient and CPT gradient files through the palette interface.
- Provides configurable viewer presets for quickly switching rendering quality.
- Can create random genomes and new default flames from keyboard shortcuts.
- Saves both FLAM3 parameter files and rendered images.
