process-mem is a command-line utility for reporting memory consumption across one or more running processes. It is designed to answer a common question: how much memory is an application using when it consists of several separate processes?
Many applications launch multiple processes for different tasks. Web browsers, terminal applications and background services can therefore be difficult to assess by examining a single PID. process-mem simplifies this by grouping processes with matching names and presenting their memory consumption together.
The software uses Python and psutil to collect process information. It provides a compact report intended for users who need an overview of memory consumption without the complexity of a general-purpose system monitor.
