Mathics is a general-purpose computer algebra system (CAS).
It features Mathematica-compatible syntax and functions. It relies on a number of other Python libraries in the Python ecosystem.
This is free and open source software.
Key Features
- Uses a web interface for user interaction.
- Modular design, allowing to reuse parts of it and run them with tailored dependencies and minimal footprint.
- Mathics3 core – contains a parser, and evaluator, and some formatting routines.
- Character Tables and Tokenizer.
- Syntax Highlighting.
- mathicsscript – offering shell features such as prompt toolkit and Readline terminal interaction, syntax highlighting using mathics-pygments, automatic detection of light or dark terminal background color, and entering and displaying Unicode symbols such as used for Pi or Rule arrows.
- Django-based GUI.
- Modules.
